The Steptoe Group, LLC announced on November 6, 2009 the release of its Warrior-Patient Centric Healthcare Training Seminar Series for healthcare providers treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Compassion Fatigue and other mental and behavioral health conditions, “INVISIBLE WOUNDS OF WAR,” in the military and veteran medical communities. The training will improve healthcare delivery capabilities and focus on “Post 9/11” military culture in the clinical setting; cultural competency; and patient-provider communications. The firm is currently capable of providing annual on-site training for approximately 25,000 healthcare providers a year. In addition the Steptoe Group has the capability of launching Warrior-Patient Centric Healthcare Training Seminar Series in a web based platform (SCORM compliant). Regardless of the training platform, lay professionals, and allied health team members upon completion of the Warrior-Patient Centric Healthcare Training Seminar Series will be awarded Continuing Medical Education (CME), and Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
The Steptoe Group is currently working with Government and Private Organizations to increase the awareness on the growing and deleterious impact mental and behavioral health conditions are having on the military and veteran communities. Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) has seen the deployment of nearly 2 million US troops since October 2001. Unlike the past, 3.9% in Vietnam and 3.1% in Korea, a staggering 45% of the combatants in the Global War on Terror are Reserve Component Soldiers drastically altering healthcare challenges. The Steptoe Group is currently capable of implementing a national multi-center assessment program. The program will assess healthcare provider and medical treatment facility competency in “Post 9/11” military culture, culturally appropriate healthcare delivery, and patient-provider communication.
