Ronald J. Steptoe – Chairman and CEO
Ronald has over 24 years of management, operational, marketing experience in the healthcare advocacy, marketing / public relations industries. He has extensive experience in bringing new
medical therapies to market and managing their growth in a diverse array of Government and Private Healthcare Systems. He has received professional credentialing as a Certified Medical Representative.
Ronald created and managed industry leading multicultural and emerging markets business models for Pfizer’s Multi-Cultural Business Team. His area of focus and market specific expertise is in multicultural healthcare. He directed the multicultural marketing and advocacy initiatives for Pfizer’s 13,000 sales managers and representatives in theUnited States.
Ronald is the Managing Member and Majority Owner of the Steptoe Group, LLC. He started the Steptoe Group to bring healthcare advocacy curriculum and training to the federal sector marketplace. He is a Service Disabled Veteran and is leveraging his extensive private sector business experience in providing management and technical solutions to the Government sector with his firm the Steptoe Group, LLC.
As CEO, Ronald has established innovative partnerships with National Medical Association, Department of Continuing Education, Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education, and the International Association of Continuing Education and Training to provide a “ medically-accredited military culture, cultural competency, and patient-provider communication in the clinical setting” educational training program for health providers with the expertise and capacity to deliver high-quality services that are patient-centered, evidence based and address the health needs of vulnerable population within the military and veteran communities. The Steptoe Group’s proprietary business model (Training, Information Management, Communications, and Research / Assessments) addresses the lack of medically-accredited health care provider and practitioner training, educational resources, uniformity and systemic impediments that
exacerbate cultural, economic, familial, and regional geographic challenges contributing to disparities in health, healthcare, and services provided to the military and veteran communities.
Ronald serves on the Board of Directors of USA Cares, Inc (a Veterans Service Organization).
Prior to joining Pfizer 18 years ago, Ronald served as an officer in the United States Army. He
is also a 1987 graduate from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY.
Evelyn L. Lewis M.D., M.A., FAAFP – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Lewis earned her medical degree from the University of the Health Sciences, The Chicago Medical School and completed a residency in family practice at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Jacksonville, FL. She also completed a two-year faculty development fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center and Pacific Lutheran University with a Masters degree in the Social and Behavioral sciences. Dr. Lewis was formely the Medical Policy Director, World Wide Public Affairs and Policy for Pfizer, Inc and also served as Deputy Director Uniformed Services University (USU) Center for Health Disparities. She holds appointments in the departments of Family Medicine and Medical and Clinical Psychology. She is a member of the Editorial Board for journal of Cognitive and Behavioral Practice. During her years of active service, prior assignments and appointments included Deputy Vice President for Minority Affairs, Director of the University Health Center, Director, Family Practice Clerkship, Vice Chair, Department of Family Medicine, Associate Chair for Research, Department of Family Medicine, and teaching faculty at several residency-training programs. Her professional and research interests include adolescent medicine, adolescent sexuality and pregnancy issues, weight management (obesity and overweight), health and healthcare disparities, clinical trials and minority participation, cultural proficiency and women’s health care delivery.
Dr. Lewis is nationally recognized for her expertise in the areas of Cultural Competency and Healthcare Disparities. During her tenure at the Uniformed Services University, she was awarded a Project EXPORT grant from the NIH Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities and served as the Principal Investigator. In her position as a Medical Director, Healthcare Policy, she has employed this expertise in Cultural Competency and Healthcare Disparities to increase patients’ awareness of diseases and treatments, increase physicians’ awareness of the special needs of minority populations, increase the number of minority health care professionals, and increase access to quality health care through her work with multiple organizations to include the Black Ministers Council, Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), CBC Health Brain Trust, National Medical Association, National Black Caucus of State Legislators, NAACP, National Urban League, American Academy of Family Physicians, National Medical Association, National Hispanic Medical Association, and the American Medical Association Commission To End Health Disparities.
Dr. Lewis is a member of several medical associations to include the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the National Medical Association (NMA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the AMA NMA Commission to End Healthcare Disparities. Her military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Medal, Joint Service Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement. Joint Meritorious Unit, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy “E” (two awards), National Defense Medal, Humanitarian Service, Navy Sea Service Deployment, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service with bronze star, Coast Guard Special Operations Service, and the Navy Expert Pistol (with silver “E”).
Other significant honors include the W.E. Upjohn Award for Innovation, Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians’ President’s Award of Merit, Career Communications Group, Women of Color Emerald Honor for Medical Education Award, State of Maryland Governor’s Citation for Military Service, State of Maryland Citation Official Opening of the Uniformed Services University Center for Health Disparities Research and Education, Uniformed Services University, Office of Recruitment and Diversity, Mentor of the Year Award (1999-2000), Commendable Service Medal (2000), Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians President’s Award (1999), One of five Family Physicians featured in the pamphlet “Is Our Health Care System Losing Its Balance?” sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians Research Initiative (1999), and One of nine Family Physicians profiled in the American Academy of Family Physicians 50th Anniversary Book, Caring for America – The Story of Family Practice (1998).
Lisa Steptoe – Board Member
Lisa has over 21 years of management, operational, marketing and sales experience in the military, healthcare, and real estate industries. She has extensive experience in bringing new medicinal modalities to improve clinical outcomes in healthcare.
Lisa managed the marketing and sales of Schering-Plough’s entire product portfolio within a diverse array of hospital and integrated healthcare delivery systems to include Johns Hopkins Health System, University of Maryland, Washington Hospital Center & George Washington University Health System.
Lisa is Chief Financial Officer of Jordan River Enterprises, LLC (a Real Estate Development and Asset Management Company). Lisa is also the President of the DC/Baltimore Chapter of the National Sales Network – An Association of African American Sales Professionals. (www.nsndcbaltimore.org). The Chapter recently won the 2007 Chapter of the Year Award.
In addition to her career and business ventures, Lisa had continued to serve and bring value to the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. She is currently the Chair, Communications for the AOG Diversity Leadership Council (www.theblackknights.org)
Lisa is on the Board of Directors of West Point Women. Mrs. Steptoe is also professionally credentialed as a graduate of the Professional Academy of Healthcare Management, and the Six Sigma Green Belt for Healthcare
Prior to joining Schering, Lisa was with Pfizer, Inc for 15 years and served as a Quartermaster Officer in the United States Army. She is also a 1987 graduate from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY with a degree in Mathematics.
CJ Jordan – Senior VP Government Affairs / Communications
CJ is President/CEO of The Jordan Management Group, LLC, a full service Government Relations and Public Affairs Firm, which specializes in strategic business development. Currently, CJ is National Coordinator of African American Coalitions for McCain/ Palin and a member of the national finance teams for McCain/Palin and the RNC.
CJ is President of the National Black Republican Leadership Council and a Pioneer in 2001 and Member of the Bush Cheney Finance Leadership Team 2004. She devotes time to Minority Recruiting for the United States Military Academy at West Point and other Military Service Academies as well as Chairman can Co-founder of “I am Not A HERO Foundation, Inc” which encourages athletes and entertainers to visit our Troops and Wounded Warriors.
CJ served as director of the coalition to get the President’s Faith Based and Community Based Bill HR7 which passed the US Representatives in 2001. She later served as project director for a US Lead Trade Mission to West Africa with included 6 members of Congress and 31 US Businesses and 7 Government agencies.
CJ is a published poet, who says that a true leader is one who can be heard and not always seen , a critical thinker who will have to make tough decisions that might not be popular but be right.
Marcus Brooks– Business Consultant and Board Member
Marcus Brooks is a Graduate from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. Prior to graduation he co-authored the National Survival Guide for Siblings of Abducted Children, on behalf of the Department of Justice and completed an internship at NASA Dryden.
As a wounded warrior assigned to West Point, he has conducted community outreach across the continental US and, as the Admissions Office Executive Officer, he has improved business processes and currently is the Strategic Planner and Diversity Officer interfacing with public/private sectors to build national programs and maximize synergy between the West Point Admissions office and the respective institutions.
He was instrumental in the design, research, development, and launching of the Army Diversity Office and wrote national policy statements for the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Army.
Marcus’ background along with his degrees in Economics and Mechanical Engineering led him to be the Trinidad and Tobago project lead for the Network Science Center based at West Point seeking to understand the economic infrastructure of Frontier Capital Markets via the human dimension of social networks.
Marcus completed a professional internship with the Steptoe Group, and as a member of the board and key Consultant, he brings performance assessment and enhancement techniques, development.
